At a glance

The everyday counterpart to a sports electrolyte. Three hundred milligrams of sodium rather than a thousand, with magnesium and a light cucumber flavour. Intended for warm days, travel and hangovers rather than training.

It may suit you if

  • You want electrolytes without a sports-level sodium load
  • You drink it at a desk or on a plane
  • You find sports sachets too salty

You may prefer something else if

  • You train long or in heat — you may need more sodium

What is in it

The label, in full

Every active ingredient amount is printed on the label.

Sodium, potassium and magnesium blend
300mg sodium

Sodium is the main variable. Sports-oriented sachets can carry three or four times the sodium of everyday hydration products. Typical serving across the market: 300mg – 1000mg sodium. Published human research: extensive.

Magnesium bisglycinate
80mg

Magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine. Generally better tolerated by the digestive system than magnesium oxide, and usually more expensive. Typical serving across the market: 100mg – 375mg elemental. Published human research: moderate.

Vitamin C
80mg

One of the few ingredients here with an authorised health claim in the UK and EU. Often included alongside collagen for that reason. Typical serving across the market: 40mg – 500mg. Published human research: extensive.

Other ingredients

Potassium 150mg, Natural cucumber and mint flavour, Steviol glycosides.

Cost per serving is the fairest way to compare, because pack sizes vary enormously within the same category. It still does not account for how much active ingredient is in each serving — check that too.
